Cost of a single module: 360 PLN (depending on the number of available spots, except for module 1 which costs 250 PLN each)

Total course cost: 4,600 PLN (16 modules) - in 9 installments

The program is subject to changes based on the language level of the students and the topics requested by the group to be addressed or omitted during the course.

In case of doubt about the language level, you can take a placement test.

Content of each module:

One week before the date of the webinar, students receive:

A. a detailed glossary to study + exercises on Quizlet

B. a presentation of the legal field provided with relevant legal provisions to read + links to additional content

C. vocabulary and grammar exercises highlighting terminological difficulties

D. texts to translate during the webinar (to be prepared in advance)

E. On the date of the webinar (Sunday) – 2 x 90 minutes with a 30-minute break (10:00-11:30 and 12:00-13:30) – the previously sent texts are translated together

F. A bibliography and recommended books/sites/videos

After the webinar:

G. A text of about 150 to 200 words to translate and send back to the instructor

Target skills:

• Identify and understand the concepts of French and Polish law, terminology, and legal phrases;
• Analyze a legal document, understand its logic;
• Know legal resources, be able to search for and extract the necessary information;
• Define translation problems and find appropriate solutions;
• Correctly use legal terminology and phraseology as well as translation techniques;
• Be able to produce a quality translation that takes into account legal systems, legal terminology, and linguistic rules.

Target audience:

This highly practical course is aimed at students, translators, legal professionals, and anyone working with legal documents written in French.

Prerequisites:

French level C1/C2, good internet connection (webinars on Zoom), a printer.

Please do not register if your level is lower. An introductory course on legal translation for B2/C1 level students will be offered in January.
